Forest Therapy

Estimated at around 130 million years old, Malaysia’s rainforests is host to some of the most diverse tropical ecosystems in the world.

Tropical rainforests cover only 6% of the planet’s surface but in terms of biodiversity, they contain more than 50% of the world’s terrestrial plant and animal species. On plants alone, tropical rainforests are thought to be the exclusive home for 170,000 of the world’s 250,000 known plant species.

The Habitat is a world-class eco-tourism facility set on the fringes of the rainforest on Penang Hill. Located just 6km from George Town in an untouched forest reserve and delicately enveloped by urban Penang, its built-in features include a nature trail, tree-top walk, canopy walkways, a visitor centre, a café and a shop.

The Habitat hopes to inspire its visitors to make choices for a sustainable future and to help cultivate an appreciation and respect for the delicate yet diverse ecosystem that we strive to protect.

The sounds of the forest, the scent of the trees, the sunlight playing through the leaves, the fresh, clean air-the elements of nature that slows time and nourishes the mind, body and soul.

Offering an ultimate sensory immersion excursion in a natural environment, the guided forest therapy experience at The Habitat Penang Hill is crafted to induce a sensory journey of overall well-being through relaxation and rejuvenation for our guests as we journey into the ancient rainforest.
