Building Bridges
Southeast Asia’s first Tower Drawbridge.
Build bridges instead of walls! The Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge was completed in 2019 and crosses the mouth of the Terengganu River. It is the first drawbridge built in Malaysia and Southeast Asia and its design was inspired by the world famous Tower Bridge in London.
The drawbridge has a 23-metre-wide single-carriageway spanning 638 metres and there are four 15-storey towers, with each set of two towers connected by a skybridge featuring an observation platform, a sky café and a gallery.
The bridge has become an iconic structure in Kuala Terengganu in line with its vision of a sustainable and viable “Coastal Heritage City”.
