BALI
Munduk: Bali’s Best Kept Secret
The mountainside village of Munduk is like taking a step back in time to the town of Ubud about 20 years ago. In this peaceful hamlet one wakes up with the sounds of nature – birdsong, a flowing river, a gently cascading waterfall or a cheeky early rooster. When staying in Munduk, most people opt for a walk through the lush forest and rice fields in search of one of the many waterfalls in the nearby surroundings.
At ICS we offer a beautiful walk around one of the ‘twin-lakes’ Buyan and Tamblingan. The two-hour walk around Lake Tamblingan brings you from thick rainforest and rural farms to an open plain with a waterside temple. From here, a rustic man-made canoe to the other side of the lake. During this tranquil journey your local guide will explain about the local wildlife and traditions of the local people in this area. After a good two-hour workout it’s time to satisfy the appetite and head to one of the less-visited but no-less spectacular waterfalls of the region to enjoy a private luxurious picnic lunch with an unobstructed view of the falls. A day well spent off the beaten track in North Bali!
