Bali: Nusa Lembongan Escape

If you are looking for a destination that captures the beauty of Bali while offering a more relaxed and authentic island experience, Nusa Lembongan is a wonderful choice.

Located just a 30–45 minutes fast boat ride from Sanur, Nusa Lembongan is a small tropical island of approximately 8 km², home to around 5,000-7,000 residents. Surrounded by coral reefs, white sand beaches and low limestone cliffs, the island offers stunning views both on land and underwater, creating a peaceful setting for travellers seeking a quieter escape.

Nusa Lembongan is known for its beautiful coastline and scenic viewpoints. Visitors can unwind at Dream Beach, Mushroom Bay, Jungut Batu and Sandy Bay, each offering its own unique charm. Nature lovers can explore the tranquil Mangrove Forest or visit Devil’s Tears, where powerful ocean waves create one of the island’s most dramatic and memorable sights.

The island also offers a glimpse into authentic local life. Seaweed farming was once the main source of income for the community and this tradition is still visible today. The local culture remains strongly connected to Balinese Hindu traditions, including unique ceremonies such as Nyepi Laut, a special Ocean Silence Day that is only celebrated in the Nusa Islands.

Nusa Lembongan is also an ideal base to explore the neighbouring islands. Nusa Ceningan, connected by the iconic Yellow Bridge, is known for the Blue Lagoon, cliff jumping spots and relaxed seaside cafés. Meanwhile, Nusa Penida, the largest of the three islands, is famous for its spectacular natural landmarks such as Kelingking Beach, Angel’s Billabong and Broken Beach, and can be reached in just 15 minutes by boat.

Nusa Lembongan offers the perfect balance of relaxation, adventure and cultural discovery, making it a beautiful addition to any Bali journey.
