UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
Dubai – Top Travel Destination
Dubai is firmly on course to achieve its tourism goals as the city welcomes 7.12 million international visitors during the first half of 2022, recording more than 183% growth in visitors compared to the 2.52 million tourists who visited Dubai during the same period in 2021, according to latest data from Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism.
In the first half of 2022, there were nearly as many tourists as there were in the first six months of 2019, when 8.36 million people visited Dubai. Given the impact of extraordinary obstacles and other macroeconomic considerations on the global economy and tourism sector, the emirate’s ability to swiftly resume close to pre-pandemic tourism levels is all the more impressive.
This encouraging growth in H1 2022 puts the city on track to meet its tourism objectives for 2022 and beyond and strengthens its status as a top international travel destination.
The fact that Dubai will receive 900,000 cruise visitors during the 2022–2023 season underscores the emirate’s position as the region’s top cruise center. 166 ship stops between Mina Rashid and Dubai Harbour are planned for the 2022–2023 cruise season, starting on October 29 with the arrival of the cruise ship TUI Cruises (Mein Schiff 6) at the award-winning Hamdan bin Mohammed Cruise Terminal at Mina Rashid, capable of accommodating 14,000 cruise passengers and seven mega-cruise ships at once.
