ITALY
Gastronomic Heritage Programme
If lockdown has given us anything, it’s the time to dream and come up with new fresh ideas for when travel is back. Encouraged by local Italian artisans, we’ve created the Heritage Travel Experience that explores the more remote areas of Italy.
With the whispers of borders opening in the summer, at least within Europe, Italy is drawing a lot of attention as one of the most thought-about European destinations. The country is all about connecting and exploring the culture through its people, and what better way to connect with the locals than through authentic slow and sustainable activities?
With our Gastronomic Heritage Programme you will explore a new side of this famous destination by sharing its secrets through the stories of its residents. You will meet local businessmen, artisans, and winery owners who will tell you all about their heritage, gastronomy, craftsmanship and lifestyle. Meet Italian fishermen who will teach you their craft; and visit Jewish communities, pharmacies run by monks and real working farms. Get up close to the communities and nature through biking and hiking.
It will not only be a memorable holiday, but also one that makes a difference. You’ll find a home away from home in an ancient Italian village that has been converted into a unique eco-hotel wholly focused on the protection of heritage, conservation and slow travel. You will visit a disappearing glacier and help raise awareness of global warming and the need for choosing more sustainable and regenerative tourism. You will support slow food, local artisan gastronomy, small producers and family businesses, with the profits from this programme helping rural destinations of Italy that normally don’t benefit from tourism.
Are you ready to visit areas of Italy off-the-beaten-path and gain a unique perspective into rural life, gastronomy heritage and ways of earning a living from the land, while also helping the local economy?
