The Suragan Food and Culture Experience is taking place from 25th May to 4th June 2023. It is a traditional cultural experience programme where visitors can directly experience the palace food culture through visual and culinary delights and performances, with the theme of moving and impressing the senses. The programme includes the taste of palace delicacies, snacks that can only be found in the alleyways of the palace, and traditional games played with palace people from the Joseon Dynasty.
Programme 1: Sikdorak & Taste of Suragan (Select Part 1 or 2)
Through this programme, you will be able to experience what typically went on in Oesojubang (outer small kitchen) of Gyeongbokgung Palace based on the stories of cooking and royal court cuisine (byeonggwa) told by the Sangseodaegam (Doseolli), the chief of Suragan (the royal kitchen), as well as Daeryeongsuksu and upper court ladies of Suragan. There is also a photo zone with a motif of the king’s kitchen and throne.
Programme 2: Nighttime Suragan (Select Part 1 or 2)
All the food made by Saenggwabang at Gyeongbokgung Palace, which was only open during the day, is included in this programme. Enjoy herbal tea and refreshments that were served to the king and queen in Saenggwabang under the moonlight.
