The Chai Lai Orchid in Chiang Mai is more than a hotel!

This incredible family friendly and affordable oasis is a small grassroots social enterprise. But they are part of a larger family – a family of rescued elephants and a family of marginalised women who have been provided with a safe home, the chance to learn hospitality skills and get paid full wages. Chai Lai does its part to ensure its vocational trainee graduates are independent, empowered and are able to provide a brighter future for themselves and their whole community.

When you stay here, you are not only part of a nature and eco resort, you are also an active part in helping women better their lives.  

Located about one hour from Chiang Mai, set in the Mae Wang Valley, the Chai Lai Orchid has two idyllic properties. Live with elephants in the nature retreat featuring riverside bungalows, surrounded by lush tropical forest – or wake up with elephants above the clouds in a peaceful mountain retreat with stunning panoramic valley views from the top of the mountain.

There are various day trips and overnight ethical elephant experiences that allow you to connect with elephants while supporting their conservation. Choose from elephant jungle expeditions, secret temple treks, homestays, as well as cooking classes and food tours.
