Merdeka 118: 679 metres-high

Merdeka 118, also known as KL 118, is a 118-story, 678.9-metre megatall skyscraper currently under construction in Kuala Lumpur.

Merdeka means ‘independence’ and the name was inspired by the building’s proximity to the Merdeka Stadium and the Negara Stadium. The spire of Merdeka was completed in November 2021 and the building is expected to be finished by the end of 2022. Merdeka will be the tallest building in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. It will also surpass the Shanghai Tower (632 m) as the world’s second-tallest building and structure, taking the title by virtue of its 160-metre-tall spire.

Merdeka is designed with a mixture of diamond shaped glass facades to signify the diversity of Malaysians. The 113th floor will have a restaurant, and the 114th to 117th floors will be occupied by a multi-story observation deck.
