Beef Torpedo Soup

An aphrodisiac food that needs serious balls to be able to consume!

In the local language ‘sup torpedo’ means ‘beef torpedo soup’. ALet your imagination run wild and you will realise what this soupcontains – bull’s penis! That’s right, this soup contains the penis of a bull and is supposedly an aphrodisiac. A food challenge that needs serious balls, in a more literal sense. 

The soup made its debut in Penang when one Shahul Hameed started selling it from Sup Hameed, an Indian Muslim hawker in Jalan Penang. 

Apart from its unique main ingredient, the soup includes a variety of spices, onions, ginger and garlic. It is usually served in stalls or mamak restaurants together with a piece of Bengali bread which is very soft and fresh and needs to be dipped into this amazing soup. 

The meat itself is rather chewy and tastes like regular beef. The soup is slightly spicy and resembles an oxtail soup, but “with a soft bone inside”. Enjoy!
