Kalinchowk not Kalashnikov!
Our Country Manager in Nepal recently went on an inspection trip to the Kalinchowk Hill Station, located about 150 km from Kathmandu.
The Kalinchowk Hill Station is located at an altitude of 3,842 metres above sea-level and offers stunning views of Mount Gaurishankar, Jugal, the Annapurna range and Mount Everest. Besides the amazing views, the area also features multi-coloured forests with rhododendron, and a multitude of birds and animals. The region is located inside the Gaurishankar conservation area where two famous rivers of Nepal, Sunkoshi and Tamakoshi, originate.
Kalinchowk is a home to cozy resorts on snowy hills and the famous Kalinchowk Bhagwati Shrine. Growing as a popular destination for adventure seekers as well as pilgrims, this diminutive but pretty place offers people a quick getaway. It is among the most visited winter destinations in Nepal. The possiblity to experience snow due to the high altitude combined with the warm Nepali hospitality, makes this a dream destination.
Kalinchowk is famous for short hiking as well. Trekkers can drive up to Charikot, 1,550 metres above sea-level, and stay overnight exploring the lifestyle, culture, customs and traditions. The next morning trekkers can visit the Kuri Bazaar, which is 3,200 metres above sea-level. The trek from Charikot to Kuri takes about five hours in total and offers the most stunning views of the Himalayas.
