Skiing in Uzbekistan – wait, what?

Yes, you heard right: skiing in the Central Asian nation is possible. There is a beautiful ski resort located in the Bostanlyk district on the northern slopes of Mount Maygashkan, 65 km from Tashkent.

Why not combine the cultural highlights along the Silk Road with a few winter activities. Uzbekistan and its ancient cities, such as Samarkand and Bukhara, have their very own unique charm during the winter.

The perfect getaway is the Amirsoy Resort, which is about one and a half hours drive from Tashkent.

Usually people spend a full day there, departing the capital in the morning and returning in the evening. The resort is located on 900+ hectares in one of the most beautiful and picturesque places of the capital region, on the spurs of the Chatkal range of the western part of the Tien Shan Mountains.

Amirsoy Resort features 38 alpine-style chalets, a spa complex, two restaurants of national and European cuisine, a multifunctional service centre, gondola, chair & belt lifts, quad bike & snowmobile rental, picnic area and a media centre providing photo and video shooting services.

Guests of Amirsoy Resort have access to a wide range of active entertainment for every taste. Trails at the resort are one of the highest priority facilities. Canadian and Spanish specialists have developed routes, based on the local terrain. During the winter season, skiers and snowboarders have 11 relief tracks with different levels of difficulty and a total length of more than 15 km at their disposal.
