Sapa snow festival 2021
The Snow Festival in Vietnam is a unique event that only takes place in Sa Pa.
This annual festival has been organised by the Lao Cai Provincial Tourism Information and Promotion Center since 2015 at Sa Pa Town in North-west Vietnam. In December 2021 the Sa Pa Snow Festival continues its tradition in coordination with the Sa Pa authorities and local businesses.
Snowfall is a common natural phenomenon in temperate countries, but in Vietnam, a subtropical country, this is the most anticipated special event in winter. Sa Pa is located at an altitude of over 1,500m above sea level. The ‘Roof of Indochina’, the Fansipan peak at 3,143m, often sees ice and snow during the winter.
The region has become more and more attractive for international tourists and locals alike every Christmas season. Apart from the beautiful landscape and outdoor activities, the traditional dishes of Sa Pa are extremely popular, such as thang co, salmon hot pot, dried buffalo meat and night barbecue. Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the highland cuisine, watch the snow, immerse themselves in the Christmas space and celebrate the New Year with folk music and lively street music.
