At Christmas, ICS Thailand was proud to add a special touch to our VIP guests’ journeys with a gift that tells a story of sustainability, community and creativity through our ICS Green initiative.

We’ve partnered with a remarkable social enterprise near Chiang Rai, where Akha women from a remote village handcraft unique Christmas decorations. Made from 100% cotton and infused with a Thai touch, each piece beautifully reflects their culture and craftsmanship. This project not only showcases local artistry but also provides much-needed job opportunities in the community.

The Akha people are an indigenous hill tribe that primarily resides in the mountainous regions of Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and China. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, distinctive traditional attire and sustainable way of life that is closely tied to the land and nature. Hardworking, dedicated and detail-oriented, the Akha have talents that are an unsung asset to Thailand.
