Inakaya Sorashido
Experience the Traditional “Okudosan” and Discover Japan’s Rural Heritage
“Okudosan” is a Kyoto dialect word referring to the kamado, a traditional wood-burning Japanese cooking stove once commonly used throughout the country until the mid-Showa era. At Inakaya Sorashido, located in a beautifully preserved 100-year-old Japanese house, you can enjoy an immersive cooking experience using an authentic okudosan. In addition, participants can try their hand at roasting Ayabe tea, savoring its evolving aroma and rich flavor.
This unique cultural experience is available for groups of 1 to 12 people. (Please note: Solo participants will be charged the equivalent of a two-person booking.)
Ichiju Issai no Yado Chabu Dining
Nourishing the Soul and Building Local Connections Through Food
Inspired by Ichiju Issai – Japan’s traditional style of eating that features one soup and one side dish – this experience offers a simple, wholesome meal prepared with care and heart. Set in a beautifully preserved, 100-year-old farmhouse, guests gather around a traditional irori (sunken hearth) to enjoy warm, meaningful conversations with the welcoming owner couple. Surrounded by the serene mountain countryside, this is more than just dining – it’s a chance to slow down, enjoy a mental detox and embrace the peaceful rhythm of rural life. Why not come and experience this for yourself?
Day 2:
From Ichiju Issai no Yado Chabu Dining, take a local bus from Nishisaka Shukajo-mae Bus Stop to Kajiya (Nishisaka Line).
