In a strong move to boost tourism and support economic recovery, the Sri Lankan Government has extended its Free Visa Policy for tourists from 40 countries.

This extension follows the success of the initial free visa scheme launched in March 2023 and is part of a broader initiative to attract more international visitors and revitalise the tourism sector.

In addition to the original list of visa-exempt countries – China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia and Japan – the updated policy now includes key global tourism markets.

Here is the full list of 40 countries now eligible for visa-free entry:
