Japan
Pokémon, Pikachu & Popcorn
Get ready, Trainers – Japan leveled up its theme park game! PokéPark Kanto, which officially opened in February 2026 inside Yomiuriland (about 30 minutes from central Tokyo), is already drawing fans eager to step into a real-life Pokémon world. Spanning an impressive 26,000 square meters, the park blends nostalgia, photo-worthy moments and plenty of playful surprises.
The park is split into two main zones: lively Sedge Town and the enchanting Pokémon Forest. Start your adventure browsing adorable merch at the Daisuki Shop – think plushies, themed snacks and collectibles – before wandering into town, where you’ll find a Pokémon Center, Poké Mart, rides and even a gym show. One especially cute highlight? Hand Nurse Joy a Pokéball and watch your Pokémon “heal” on-screen. It’s simple, but guaranteed to spark childhood memories.
Hungry? You’re covered. Snack on Snorlax popcorn, sip colorful drinks inspired by Bulbasaur or Charmander and cool down with Pikachu treats. Then hop aboard the cheerful Pika Pika Paradise spinner or the Eevee-themed carousel for a quick dose of fun.
Don’t miss the half-hour “Pika Pika Sparks!” performance – a charming, language-free show that’s easily one of the park’s biggest crowd-pleasers. Meanwhile, Pokémon Go players can catch creatures throughout the grounds, with chances to encounter even legendary birds during special periods.
For many visitors, the true magic lies in the Pokémon Forest, a peaceful 500-meter trail dotted with hundreds of life-sized Pokémon interacting with their natural surroundings. From towering Onix to tiny Bug-types, it feels like stepping straight into the games.
Is it as massive as Disney or Universal? Not quite – but that’s part of the charm. PokéPark Kanto is bright, family-friendly and wonderfully nostalgic. Come for the photos, stay for the smiles and yes… bring extra luggage space for merch. After all, you still gotta catch ’em all!
