HONG KONG

Mangroves & Migratory Birds

The Hong Kong Wetland Park is a world-class ecotourism destination designed for both local residents and international visitors. It features a 10,000m² Visitor Centre and a 60-hectare Wetland Reserve. The Visitor Centre includes themed exhibition galleries, a theatre, a souvenir shop, and an indoor play area. These galleries highlight the critical role wetlands play in biodiversity, human civilization, and conservation.

The Wetland Reserve consists of carefully constructed habitats designed to support waterbirds. Within the reserve, the Wetland Discovery Centre invites guests to encounter a rich variety of wetland wildlife. Additional attractions such as the Stream Walk, Succession Walk, Mangrove Boardwalk and three Bird Hides guide visitors through a range of unique ecosystems.

Hong Kong Wetland Park has earned numerous local and international accolades for its architectural and landscape design. These honors have been awarded by esteemed institutions such as the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, the United Kingdom’s Institute of Landscape Architects and the Urban Land Institute of the USA. In 2013, the public of Hong Kong voted the park as one of the Ten Hong Kong People’s Engineering Wonders of the 21st Century.

The peak bird-watching season runs from November to March, when thousands of migratory birds take refuge in the park. Spring and summer, on the other hand, are ideal for observing butterflies, dragonflies and blooming wildflowers.

The park offers an entertaining and educational experience, making it a perfect outing for families.
