LAOS

 A Wild Eco-Adventure

Nam Et-Phou Louey National Park is one of the more remote experiences in Laos. Nam Et-Phou Louey requires extensive travel to reach, offers basic-wild accommodations and provides an authentic, off-the-beaten-path jungle wilderness experience.

  • Location: Remote northeastern Laos (spanning Houaphan, Luang Prabang and Xieng Khouang provinces).
  • Travel Time from Luang Prabang: 8 to 12 hour drive/minibus ride to reach the gateway towns like Muang Hiem or Vieng Thong.
  • The Experience: Famous for its guided River Safari. Travel by longtail boat down the Nam Nern River, watch for wildlife at night by spotlight and sleep in suspended, open-air huts called “The Nests” high up in the trees.
  • Vibe: Deep, untouched primary rainforest with highly regulated eco-tourism focused on actual biodiversity conservation.

Nestled in the heart of the wild mountains of northern Laos, Nam Et-Phou Louey National Park offers one of the most authentic nature and adventure experiences in South-East Asia. Renowned for its unspoilt forests, exceptional biodiversity and exemplary community conservation initiatives, the park invites travellers to explore a region that remains untouched, far from the usual tourist trails.

From night safaris on the Nam Nern River to jungle trekking, wildlife spotting and encounters with the local Khmu communities, each experience offers a unique immersion in the heart of a protected natural environment. The famous Nam Nern Night Safari, internationally recognised for its model of responsible tourism, is one of the park’s flagship activities and offers rare opportunities to observe Laos’s nocturnal wildlife in its natural habitat.

Whether it’s a multi-day adventure deep in the jungle, an exploration by traditional boat or a hike through the mountains and tropical forests, Nam Et-Phou Louey offers a range of safari and trekking packages tailored to lovers of nature, ecotourism and authentic experiences.
