In the Shoes of a Rice Farmer

Immerse in Laotian culture and discover Laos’ agrarian heritage with a visit to the Living Land Farm in Luang Prabang!

There are many different varieties of endemic rice, in particular the famous glutinous or sticky rice called Khao Niao in Lao language. Our tour will take you to the Living Land Farm, an organic farm and community enterprise run by a local team for the benefit of the local community itself. They support a wide range of community projects from helping with village improvements to running English language classes for local children.

Living Land Farm also grows organic vegetables, greens and herbs which they supply to multiple popular restaurants and hotels in Luang Prabang. Here, you will discover and take part in all the 13 stages of rice production – including planting, harvesting, ploughing with a water buffalo and the different ways of cooking rice. There is also the possibility to enjoy a typical Lao lunch served on the terrace coming directly from farm to table.

A fun and educational journey that embraces local traditions and benefits the community!
