Governor’s Residence Reopens

Nestled amidst the bustling streets of Yangon, The Governor’s Residence is a splendid oasis of colonial-era elegance. This historic mansion, dating back to the 1920s, exudes timeless charm and offers a glimpse into the city’s storied past, making it a truly enchanting retreat for discerning travelers.

Memories Group is excited to announce the new addition to the group’s portfolio of luxury properties.  From November 2023, The Governor’s Residence will once again open its door to Yangon’s community with a fresh new start and look. The property has long been a haven of luxury and heritage, resting on historical grounds in the diplomatic quarter on Taw Win Road. It was previously operated as The Governor’s Residence and was closed in early 2020 following the pandemic.

Memories Group will now turn its focus on bringing the property back to life as a vibrant haven geared towards the celebration of Myanmar culture with its ingrained personality of hospitality and warmth.  Stay tuned to hear more about the fusion of grandeur, vibrancy of activities, curated events and culinary delights that can be experienced at the new Governor’s Residence.

Myanmar, despite occasional political unrest, remains a safe destination for travelers. The majority of visits are trouble-free, with tourists often praising the warm hospitality of the locals.
