Hailed as one of the best destinations for land-based whale watching, the seaside town of Hermanus not only offers breathtaking scenery but a myriad of experiences from incredible art galleries to wine tasting, fishing, deep-sea diving, boating, kayaking and surfing.

During the months of June to December, the shores of this beautiful town turn into the swimming grounds for the Southern Right Whales. Beyond the Southern Right Whales, visitors can also look forward to seeing a variety of marine life such as Brydes whales, sharks, seals, dolphins and penguins.

The annual Hermanus Whale Festival, which will be held from 30th September to 2nd October, is a celebration of the return of the Southern Right Whales to the coastal waters of Southern Africa. This growing event attracts over 130,000 visitors and the town is abuzz with travellers who flock to celebrate the giant creatures of the deep with music, great food, and other activities.

For wine enthusiasts, Hemel-en-Aarde Wine Valley with its exquisite views is your ultimate destination! The region’s cool and coastal climate makes it famous for its Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Be it an adrenalin-packed adventure, arts and culture, unique dining experiences, wine tasting or nature, Hermanus has it all!
