The Secret Sunset Viewpoint

A newly discovered viewpoint on Phuket is one of the best-kept secrets and lesser known attractions on the island.

Laem Krating Phuket on the south-west coast of Thailand’s Phuket island is a viewpoint offering a 360 degree panoramic view of the Andaman Sea.  Unlike the very popular Laem Promthep viewpoint, most tourists have never heard of this place so you get it virtually all to yourself, except for a few ‘in-the-know’ locals. The walk takes about 30 minutes and is quite steep, but well worth it for the beautiful scenery. Another highlight is the big rock that resembles a sailing boat.

From the viewpoint you can see Nai Harn Beach, windmill viewpoint and Phromthep Cape viewpoint. The contrast of the colours of the cliffs, green grass and azure sea is breathtaking and makes for some fabulous photos.

We recommend arriving around one hour before sunset to give plenty of time to navigate the steep pathway. Wear comfy walking shoes and bring plenty of water and sunscreen. If going at sunset, bring a torch for the walk back down in the dark.
