halong bay seaplanes suspended
Since 1st April 2026, the seaplane sightseeing service over Halong Bay, operated by Hai Au Aviation, has been suspended.
For more than a decade, this scenic flight offered travelers a memorable way to see the bay from above, revealing a wide panorama of limestone karsts rising from emerald waters. The pause mainly comes from operational adjustments and updated regulations for aviation activities within this protected heritage area, as authorities review how tourism can continue to grow while protecting the natural landscape that makes the bay so special.
While the seaplane is no longer operating for now, Halong Bay still offers countless ways to experience its beauty, from cruising between the islands and kayaking through quiet lagoons to exploring caves and hidden corners of the bay. In fact, these slower and closer encounters with nature often allow visitors to appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and dramatic scenery even more.
Looking ahead, tourism in the area is gradually moving toward more responsible and nature-friendly experiences, with a focus on preserving the bay’s fragile environment while continuing to welcome travelers who wish to discover one of Vietnam’s most iconic landscapes in a thoughtful and meaningful way.
